Laszlo Polgar (Polgár László) was born May 11, 1946 in Gyöngyös, Hungary to a Hungarian Jewish family. He has about 70 inventions and has written 143 books. One of the best known books was “Raise a Genius” which was written in 1989. When he was talking about his family, he said his father was an educator, in a small town and he used to teach children from 4 years old. One of his grandfathers was a rabbi and he was very involved with the religious studies of children, from 4-year-olds and up. They both thought that it is beneficial to start teaching from age 4.
While he was studying, he got really interested in intelligence, and read about geniuses throughout history. From Aristotle and Alexander the Great, Mozart, and Einstein, he read more than 400 people. He concluded that all geniuses were taught from a very young age, sometimes from age 3 and and they all had an enriched environment. Their parents and tutors dedicated their time and energy to educate them. By his life experience and studies he believed that every healthy child can become a genius. He was saying that “Born Talent” was overrated and proper techniques, consistency and hard work can compensate for it in any kid. He was an educational psychologist, and while he studied and started to work, he was also developing a plan, a blueprint of how to raise a genius.
For that he was looking for a wife, who would dedicate herself to raising and teaching their children.
Laszlo Polgar loved playing chess although he wasn’t a Grandmaster. He had extensive catalog on chess moves and he taught her daughters to play chess and math.
