Akim Camara

Akim Camara was born on September 26, In Berlin, Germany 2000 to a German mother and a Nigerian father.

He picked up the violin at the age of 2 and started learning to play at 2 and a half. HIs violin instructor was Birgit Thiele at Marzaha -Hellerdorf School of Music. His bow-arm, at two, showed control that students twice his age struggled to achieve.

His teacher recognized he had “an ear” for music.

He absorbed pieces not by drilling them but by just hearing them.

In early 2004 Thiele and the music school principal, Gudrum Mueller, contacted Rieu’s management through his website, describing the prodigy they had found. Rieu skeptical, vut curious sent a camera crew to Berlin to film Akim playing. Rieu invited Akim and his parents to Maastricht, rehersed with him personally and extended an invitation to perform on stage. When he saw them, he invited Akim, to have his debut performance in July 2004 at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion in Kerkrade, THe Netherlands.

He invited Akim back when he was 5 and when he was 24.

Since then he is protecting him from limelight so he can have a life with a career that he loves.
