The Theory of Evolution
First and foremost I have to remind you that a scientific theory is a fact and shouldn’t be mixed up with the everyday use of the word theory, when we mean an idea we are not sure is true.
Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace, both of them English naturalists, came up with the idea independent from each other. Darwin published hos book, On the Origin of Species, in 1859. The book itself is 166 years old, but Darwin’s research goes back to the 1830’s when he joined the Beagle expedition and did his research during that time. He collected evidence, then researched, did experiments and analyzed the data. He established hi scientific theory that population evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. He showed that the diversity of life arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution.
He didn’t know about Gregor Mendel’s a Moravian monk, who conducted Hybridization experiments with pea plants. He cultivated and tested something like 5000 pea plants. He
